Surgical Clinical Assistant (CMA or AT)

About the role

Rothman Orthopaedics is seeking a full-time Surgical Clinical Assistant to support one of our Sports Medicine Surgeons. The position involves travel to our offices in King of Prussia and Malvern, PA, Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

Responsibilities

• Examines post-operative patients and performs wound checks for possible infections.
• Performs history and physicals for pre-operative patients.
• Assists surgeon at collegiate and professional sporting events, assists with field coverage for athletes.
• E-Prescribes, writes prescriptions, obtains pre-certification for prescriptions, and communicates with homecare nurses.
• Prepares and distributes post-operative discharge instructions, discusses patient care with homecare nurses, and arranges medical supplies.
• Communicates with surgery schedulers, phones patients with test results, and responds to incoming calls.
• Scans information into the patient’s record, assists with office tasks, and assists other physicians.
• Completes short-term disability forms, medical necessity letters, worker’s compensation forms, and return-to-work letters.
• Reviews mail, files, and sends faxes, reviews physician schedules, and assists with hospital rounds.
• Rotates with residents and fellow Clinical Assistants, liaisons with outside consulting physicians, and exemplifies organizational culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Professional license/certification must be active and valid.
• Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology.
• Computer skills including MS Office Suite.
• Experience with EMR systems preferred.

Pay

• Medical Assistant (CCMA/CRMA): $19.00/hr - $25.00/hr
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-A/EMT-B): $19.00/hr - $25.00/hr
• Athletic Trainer (ATC): $48,000/yr - $70,000/yr
