Surgical Clinical Assistant (CMA, AT, LPN OR RN)

About the role

Rothman Orthopaedics is seeking a Surgical Clinical Assistant to support one of their Hand & Wrist Surgeons. The position involves travel to their office in Malvern, PA and requires a Certified Medical Assistant, Athletic Trainer, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Examines post-operative patients and performs wound checks for infections.
• Performs history and physicals for pre-operative patients.
• Assists surgeon at collegiate and professional sporting events and assists with field coverage for athletes.
• E-Prescribes, writes prescriptions, obtains pre-certification for prescriptions, and communicates with homecare nurses.
• Prepares discharge instructions, discusses patient care with homecare nurses, arranges medical supplies, and phones patients with test results and follow-up instructions.
• Removes staples, sutures, and bandages as needed.
• Aids in maintaining patient flow and assisting other physicians.
• Assists with research projects and completes short-term disability forms, medical necessity letters, worker's compensation forms, and return to work letters.
• Reviews mail, files, and sends faxes; reviews physician schedules; and assists with hospital rounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Active and valid professional license/certification (CCMA, CRMA, EMT, LPN, RN, or ATC).
• Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology.
• Computer skills including MS Office Suite.
• Experience with EMR systems preferred.

Pay Range

• Medical Assistant (CCMA/CRMA): $19.00/hr - $25.00/hr
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-A/EMT-B): $19.00/hr - $25.00/hr
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): $24.00/hr - $34.00/hr
• Athletic Trainer (ATC): $48,000/yr - $70,000/yr
• Registered Nurse (RN): $65,000/yr - $90,000/yr
