About the Role
Join our team as a full-time Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), providing pre-hospital emergency medical care and transportation through the NYC 911 system. The role involves assessing patient conditions, delivering care according to NYS DOH and Regional Guidelines, and communicating effectively with hospital staff during patient transfers.
Responsibilities
- Report to work punctually in uniform with appropriate personal equipment, and adhere to policies.
- Assess and treat patients, ensuring accurate documentation via electronic Pre-Hospital Care Reports (E-PCR).
- Operate emergency vehicles per NYS DOH and FDNY guidelines, conducting vehicle checks, maintenance, and restocking supplies.
- Maintain professionalism, including a neat appearance, visible ID, and respectful communication with patients, coworkers, and the public.
- Utilize radios and MDTs for communication, following protocols and promptly reporting changes.
- Collaborate with team members and hospital staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, training sessions, and departmental meetings.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Completion of NYS Department of Health-approved EMT program.
- Six months of ambulance experience.
- Valid EMT card, driver’s license, and WMD, Haz-Mat Awareness, and CEVO/EVOC certificates.
- Effective communication skills.
- Willingness to dedicate necessary time to tasks.
