Surgery Systems Representative - Orthopedic Surgery Center

About the Role

Secures necessary patient information relating to the scheduling and/or processing of surgical procedures. Schedules surgeries and performs required procedures including documentation. Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations. Coordinates information provided for business services functions including CPT-4 and ICD-9 coding.

Knows the number of surgeries scheduled for the day, coordinates all patient registration, postoperative documentation using Provation, surgery scheduling, and the needs for each case. Anticipates the needs ahead of time and is fully prepared to provide the surgical team with the appropriate computer support. May require mentoring and training of new personnel for this position, approaching all aspects of training with a willingness to teach and share knowledge while helping coworkers succeed. Assists in helping the OR schedule run smoothly by paying attention to all cases.

Responsibilities

  • Secure patient information for scheduling and processing surgical procedures
  • Schedule surgeries and perform required documentation
  • Coordinate patient registration and postoperative documentation using Provation
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Handle CPT-4 and ICD-9 coding for business services
  • Anticipate and prepare for the needs of the surgical team
  • Mentor and train new personnel
  • Assist in maintaining a smooth OR schedule

Requirements

  • 2 or more years of related experience in a healthcare environment
  • Computer training and proficiency in Provation, Logician, and Insight
  • Knowledge of age-related growth and development principles for patient safety
  • Strong human relation and organizational skills
  • Medical terminology and data entry experience

Schedule

Monday through Friday, no weekends, no holidays. Day shift hours starting at 5:45 AM or 8:30 AM.
