Our patients have access to ground-breaking therapies, in a community setting, and may participate in national clinical research studies of drugs and treatment protocols. In the past five years, the majority of new cancer drugs approved for use in the U.S. were studied in clinical trials with FCS participation prior to approval. Through our partnership with Sarah Cannon, we are one of the largest clinical research organizations in the United States. Often, FCS leads the nation in initiating research studies and offering ground-breaking new therapies to patients.

Responsibilities

• Schedule all appointments according to physician orders, including but not limited to, obtaining surgical authorizations, outside testing, referrals and surgery services.
• Act as liaison between physician and referring physician / co-surgeon to ensure that all pertinent pre-op and post-op procedures/instructions are given to patients.
• Responsible for monitoring, estimating and collecting the patient financial responsibility for patients’ in-house services and surgeries.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of all facets of role, relevant regulations, and organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
• Performs all duties in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook and Excel) required.
• Previous Experience (including minimum years of experience): Position requires at least 5-year medical office work experience.

Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and sometimes emotionally charged matters. Communication Skills: Good command of the English language. Second language is an asset but not required. Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation), is an active listener, and effectively provides balanced feedback. Customer Service & Organizational Awareness: Strong customer focus. Ability to build an engaging culture of quality, performance effectiveness and operational excellence through best practices, strong business and political acumen, collaboration and partnerships, as well as a positive employee, physician and community relations. Self-motivated and self-starter with ability to work independently with limited supervision. Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of stakeholders and sites.
