Surfacing Lab Technician II (P)_MFG

About the role

The purpose of this position is to fine, polish, manually apply a lens block to the lens front and apply lens coating according to work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Powers up equipment and performs equipment validation process
• Operates multiple fining and polishing machines simultaneously
• Fines lens for predetermined amount of time according to lens material
• Verifies the polish temperature
• Loads the blocks in the blocking stations and ensures the blocks are flush with the plate
• De-blocks lens using lens ring and return laps on return conveyor
• Releases alloy onto lens, monitor process, block and place both blocked lenses back into appropriate tray for further processing
• Loads two lenses at a time into machine to complete automatic cleaning for coating process
• Removes lenses from machine and dry front of lens. Review for imperfections and places lenses in the tray
• Maintains monitoring of auto-blocker and troubleshoot machine errors
• Picks up alloy, blocks and work from polishing stations as needed
• Initials the surface equipment verification log to confirm machine validation
• May rotate among other functions within the department

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED is preferred
• Minimum 1 year of related manufacturing experience is preferred
• Must be able to read English to understand written procedures, hazardous warning, etc
• Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
• General problem-solving abilities

• Comply with all requirements of our Quality Management System (QMS)
• Prescribed safety and hazardous materials handling procedures
• Federal/State laws regulating hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal

Pay

Hourly Rate: $17.80
