About the role
The Surety department at The Cincinnati Insurance Companies is seeking an underwriter for their commercial and small contract division. This position involves assessing the ability of one party to fulfill an obligation according to the terms of a contract or statute.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite and process renewal bonds
- Review new and renewal submissions from agents
- Determine acceptable risks and adequate pricing within authority levels
- Support underwriting decisions on all other accounts through file preparation and documentation
- Gather information and analyze and evaluate risk exposure
- Manage agency requests and communicate directly with agencies to gather needed information
- Research and gather needed information to understand bond form questions and refer to underwriter and team leader when necessary
- Act as a resource for team production assistants and assist with processing work as needed
- Handle special projects and assignments as directed

- Proficiency in Microsoft® Word, Excel and Outlook (preferred)
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree from the business college with an emphasis in finance, accounting, or economics

Pay
The starting pay for this position is $70,000 annually. The pay determination is based on the applicant’s education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.
