Surety - Underwriter - Large Contract
About the role
The Surety Large Contract department at The Cincinnati Insurance Companies is seeking a contract surety underwriter.
Responsibilities
- Analyze financial statements and schedules of work in progress, open and completed contracts, for existing accounts and new submissions.
- Identify critical underwriting issues relative to financial statements and bonds requests and programs.
- Perform basic annual review write-ups as assigned.
- Develop working relationships with team members both at headquarters and in the field.
- Provide administrative support for assigned field representatives.
- Communicate directly with agents in the field representative's absence.
- Develop and increase surety knowledge, such as earning an Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB) designation.
- Be equipped with basic understanding of accounting, good written and verbal communication, the ability to multitask, strong time management, detail oriented with good analytical and problem solving, the ability to provide outstanding customer service, proficiency in Microsoft® Word and Excel, and prior accounting, financial or construction industry experience (helpful but not required).
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree from the business college with an emphasis in finance, accounting, or economics.

- Ability to travel with overnight stays for relationship development with agencies and accounts.

Pay
The starting pay for this position is $65,000 annually. The pay determination is based on the applicant’s education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.
Schedule
This position is based in person at our Headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio.
