Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite and manage a profitable portfolio of commercial surety accounts, including contract and commercial surety risks.
- Maintain and expand an existing book of business through established agency and broker relationships.
- Possess and prospect for and develop new business opportunities within assigned territories and target markets.
- Build and strengthen relationships with retail agents, wholesalers, brokers, and key distribution partners.
- Analyze financial statements, work-in-progress schedules, indemnity structures, and other underwriting information to evaluate risk.
- Establish appropriate pricing, terms, conditions, and authority levels consistent with company underwriting guidelines.
- Monitor portfolio performance, profitability, and loss trends while identifying opportunities for growth.
- Collaborate with senior management to execute strategic growth initiatives.
- Travel as needed to visit agency partners, producers, and prospective clients.
- Represent Lexington National at industry events, conferences, and agency meetings.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of commercial surety underwriting experience.
- Demonstrated success managing and growing a profitable commercial surety book of business.
- Existing agency and broker relationships with the ability to transition or develop business opportunities.
- Strong financial analysis and credit underwriting skills.
- Experience underwriting contract surety, commercial surety, or both.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset and strong production orientation.
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Established reputation within the commercial surety industry.
- Proven production history with measurable premium growth.
- Knowledge of regional and national surety markets.
- Professional designations such as AFSB, CPCU, or ARM are a plus.
