About the role

The Pharmacy Supervisor of the Retail Pharmacy will manage and assist the pharmacist team in day-to-day tasks, collaborating with the Manager of Pharmacy Services to integrate clinical expertise into operations. This role ensures medication safety and high-level pharmaceutical care, oversees pharmacy quality assurance, provides clinical oversight, and completes ancillary pharmacist tasks to drive operations.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical support and direction to staff, resolving clinical, fiscal, personnel, and quality issues.
• Participates in developing and implementing treatment guidelines, protocols, formulary changes, and critical pathways for all drugs in the retail pharmacy.
• Supervises clinical activities of pharmacists and retail pharmacy staff; fills in for Retail Pharmacists when necessary.
• Collaborates with the Manager of Pharmacy Services to develop and adhere to the annual budget.
• Analyzes existing business processes, develops improvement strategies, implements and monitors upgrades, and documents changes.
• Works with clinical staff, managed care, and the business office to decrease medication-related claim denials and outstanding claims.
• Develops policies and guidelines to improve revenue integrity, capture, and compliance.
• Participates in financial analyses of proposed changes to determine charge and revenue implications related to pharmacy charge description master (PCDM) maintenance.
• Reports on key performance indicators for the retail pharmacy under the supervision of the Manager of Pharmacy Services.
• Participates in the Medication Oversight Committee and represents the retail pharmacy in other identified committees/meetings.
• Utilizes analytical tools to audit and analyze retail pharmacy data elements and formulary to ensure accurate billing, maximal revenue capture, and overall service quality.
• Researches and stays current with new drug availability, billing, revenue-related compliance, and optimization topics to guide organizational decisions.
• Develops process flows, education, and communications to improve revenue integrity and compliance within the retail pharmacy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or PharmD.
• At least three (3) years of experience with outpatient pharmacy in operations, infusion/oncology billing, retail pharmacy billing, compliance, and disputing pharmacy reimbursement denial.
• Valid Alabama Pharmacist License.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PrimeRx, Omnicell, and other pharmacy program databases.

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA, MISM, PharmD, or other informatics training.
• Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Access, and Omnicell.
• 10+ years of experience with PrimeRx maintenance, CDM Maintenance, and/or Omnicell.

Work Environment

This on-site, office-based role requires extensive safety training due to exposure to chemicals, dust, dirt, and grease. The role involves handling controlled substances, such as pharmaceutical, radiological, or other hazardous materials. The Pharmacy Supervisor will manage supply purchasing for the department, which may include financial control of or access to budgets and sensitive information. The role typically involves sitting at a desk or table but may require standing, walking, or lifting up to 50 lbs.

Pay

$109,241.60 - $177,528.00 annually
