General Summary

The Supervisor of Maintenance is an integral member of the leadership team, responsible for leading a safe and efficient Maintenance Department. This role oversees the day-to-day operations of industrial facilities and supervises a team of maintenance technicians performing tasks such as equipment repairs, building system maintenance, and ensuring production processes run smoothly.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Schedule and assign work to subordinates, considering factors such as workload, employee skills, and machine capabilities
  • Recommend measures to improve productivity, minimize downtime, and reduce waste
  • Train new or reassigned employees on job duties, safety procedures, and company policies
  • Investigate complaints regarding machinery operation and communicate findings and solutions with operators
  • Perform or oversee the preventive maintenance of machines and equipment
  • Prepare reports on the performance of subordinates and maintain accurate time and production records
  • Develop or revise maintenance procedures and schedules in consultation with production and engineering personnel
  • Participate in a required on-call schedule (7 days every 6 weeks)
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Understanding of power plant maintenance, including working knowledge of operations and maintenance functions
  • Ability to manage and motivate team members
  • Proven ability to effectively interact with individuals at various organizational levels
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to clearly communicate tasks and expectations and train other personnel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field with two (2) or more years of experience supporting maintenance activities
  • Associate degree with four (4) or more years of relevant experience
  • High school diploma or GED with six (6) or more years of relevant experience
