SUPV IT SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT/PROJMGT)
This position is in the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) under 10 USC 1599f and does not convey eligibility for conversion to the Competitive Service. It is a supervisory/management role at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure, supporting the mission of the US Cyber Command.
Responsibilities
- Directs and supervises employees highly skilled in customer support.
- Manages overall functions and staff required to support planning and delivery of customer support services, including troubleshooting, customer assistance, and training in response to customer requirements.
- Plans, directs, reviews, and coordinates work operations.
- Manages and directs accomplishment of highly critical missions and functions of the supported organization.
- Stays abreast of "state-of-the-art" advanced technology and new developments in the field through journals, technical seminars, vendor contacts, and other relevant actions.
- Serves as a technical information source both within and outside the command.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- Requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance; failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- Must complete Foundational Qualifications within 9 months and Residential Qualification requirements within 12 months per DoD 8140 policy series.
- Position is subject to drug testing.
- Top Secret/SCI security clearance required.
Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must demonstrate IT-related experience in the following four competencies on their resume:
- Attention to Detail
- Customer Service
- Oral Communication
- Problem Solving
For the GG-14 level, qualifying experience includes at least one year of:
- Leadership in IT project management and customer support.
- Managing IT portfolios aligned with mission priorities.
- Overseeing the full lifecycle of IT systems development and acquisitions, including troubleshooting.
- Performing supervisory duties such as performance evaluations, mentorship, and strategic operational planning.
All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-14 grade level.

- Current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employees will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
- Subject to a 1-year probationary period for supervisory positions.
- May require a 3-year probationary period to evaluate fitness and public interest.
- Telework availability is mission-dependent and subject to supervisory determination.
- Individuals tentatively selected will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment.

- Recruitment, relocation, or retention incentives may be authorized.
- This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140 and subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements.
- Designated as "Mission Essential"; incumbent may be required to report to work or relocate during local/national emergencies.
- Subject to recall or call-back during off-shift hours, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
- Shift work required: 1st shift (0800-1600), 2nd shift (1600-1200), and 3rd shift (1200-0800).
- Veterans' Preference will be applied to eligible candidates in accordance with DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 3005.
