This position is in the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) under 10 USC 1599f and does not convey eligibility for conversion to the Competitive Service. It is a supervisory/management role at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure, supporting the mission of the US Cyber Command.
Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise employees highly skilled in customer support.
- Manage overall functions and staff required to support planning and delivery of customer support services, including troubleshooting, customer assistance, and training in response to customer requirements.
- Plan, direct, review, and coordinate work operations.
- Manage and direct accomplishment of highly critical missions and functions of the supported organization.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of "state-of-the-art" advanced technology and new developments in the field by studying journals, participating in technical seminars, and maintaining contacts with vendor personnel.
- Serve as a technical information source both within and outside the command.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- This national security position requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- Must complete Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and Residential Qualification requirements in 12 months as per DoD 8140 policy series.
- Position requires drug testing.
- Top Secret/SCI security clearance required.
- This position is mission essential.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Basic Requirements: Applicants must demonstrate IT-related experience in the following four competencies:
- Attention to Detail
- Customer Service
- Oral Communication
- Problem Solving
- Qualifying Experience (GG-14): At least one year of experience demonstrating competencies necessary for immediate success, such as:
- Leadership in IT project management and customer support.
- Managing IT portfolios aligned with mission priorities.
- Overseeing the full lifecycle of IT systems development and acquisitions, including troubleshooting.
- Performing supervisory duties such as performance evaluations, mentorship, and strategic operational planning.
- Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-14 grade level.

- If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
- This position is subject to a 1-year probationary period for assignment to a supervisory position.
- You may be required to serve a 3-year probationary period to evaluate fitness and whether continued employment advances the public interest.
- Telework availability is based on mission requirements and supervisory determination.
- Individuals tentatively selected will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement.
- Moving costs may be paid.
- Recruitment, relocation, or retention incentives may be authorized.
- This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140 and subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements.
- Shift work is required: 1st shift (0800-1600), 2nd shift (1600-2400), and 3rd shift (2400-0800).
- Employee may be subject to recall or call back during off-shift hours, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, if required by upper management.
