Supported Employment Specialist II
Job Duties Summary
Responsible for completing client assessments and job finds, ensuring clients are matched with suitable job openings based on their skills and experience. Conducts mock interviews, assists clients with resumes, monitors job retention, schedules client caseloads, and may provide training to Job Coaches. May be required to transport clients and work in any STARC-operated facility.
Essential Functions
- Evaluates client’s interests and abilities through standardized assessments, personal interviews, and observations.
- Begins search for jobs suitable to clients based on evaluation results.
- Aids clients in job applications, interviews, wage negotiation, transportation arrangements, and understanding employer rules and benefits.
- Develops job/task analyses and instructs clients in job tasks and related skills, involving supervisors and coworkers.
- Records client performance and submits progress reports.
- Monitors client performance at least twice a month, discussing with supervisors and co-workers and completing task analytic probes, production rate recordings, and on-task observations.
- Prepares to return to the job site for re-training with clients as needed.
Physical Requirements
Direct Care-Day Programs: Heavy Work - Occasional lifting of 50-100 pounds and frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and moving objects of 25-50 pounds. Frequent walking, standing, stooping, and bending required.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required
- High school diploma or equivalent with two (2) years prior work-related experience with individuals with disabilities preferred.
- Certificate of completion of LRS Employment Specialist Training.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to relate to individuals with disabilities.
- Valid driver’s license.
