Support Technician - IT Strategy, Planning and Governance

About the role
As a Support Technician, you help keep important business functions running smoothly by providing advanced administrative, technical, and analytical support. Your work supports teams across areas such as IT and other business units, helping employees access the information, resources, and services they need to be successful. By ensuring programs and processes operate effectively, you contribute to APS's ability to reliably serve customers and strengthen the communities we power.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized support for key business programs and functional teams, helping ensure work moves forward efficiently and accurately.
- Analyze information, resolve issues, and support decision-making through research and data-driven insights.
- Collaborate with employees, customers, and cross-functional partners to answer questions and connect people with the resources they need.
- Serve as a trusted point of contact for department initiatives, helping maintain clear communication and a positive experience for stakeholders.
- Manage a variety of complex and sometimes confidential assignments while supporting business goals and team success.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance service delivery.
- Perform activities to support the administration, coordination, analysis, communication, development, design, testing and/or implementation of department programs, plans and policies.
- Audit, track and maintain appropriate documentation for functional area programs.
- Prepare department tools, guides, matrices and other supporting materials.
- Consult with team members on informational requirements.
- Gather, collect, record, track and verify data and information from multiple sources.
- Provide data and information to others on functional area processes and procedures.
- Research, compile, review, analyze, manipulate and summarize data to create a wide variety of reports, charts and presentations for management review, meetings and events.
- Serve as user support for department's computer-based systems by generating reports/queries and maintaining databases.
- Participate in the testing and implementation of systems to enhance and support business processes and information needs.
- Utilize software and various computerized systems for functional area to compile and generate reports, statistics, timelines, tables, graphs, correspondence and presentations.
- Maintain related documentation, queries and/or department databases containing confidential information to ensure compliance with federal regulations and corporate policies.
- Examine transactions or information to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
- Discuss discrepancies with appropriate contacts.
- Troubleshoot problems with departmental office equipment (i.e. computers, printers, copiers, etc.) and initiate resolution.
- Train others in the use of departmental office equipment.
- Provide orientation, work direction or training to other administrative support positions in the department when necessary.
- Coordinate event planning responsibilities for department meetings, training sessions and conferences when necessary.
- Plan program, agenda and services according to customer requirements.
- Coordinate services for events and arrange availability of audio-visual equipment, transportation, displays, catering, signage, printing and other event needs.
- Conduct planning meetings, prepare communication and documents as necessary.
- Monitor event progress and make modifications/changes as appropriate.
- Review event bills for accuracy.
Requirements
- Experience providing administrative, technical, analytical, or program support in a business environment.
- Ability to manage a variety of responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize competing needs.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach to service.
- Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Comfortable collaborating across teams and building positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Qualifications
- High school graduate/GED plus four (4) years experience in advanced administrative positions OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four (4) years experience using Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications (or similar computer applications).
- Knowledge in a specialized department function including department practices, programs, plans and policies.
- Knowledge of computer systems and applications related to department or function support.
- Ability to analyze data and formulate conclusions.
- Ability to prepare reports, trends and/or recommendations.
- Ability to present ideas in an effective manner, orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees and the general public.
Schedule
Home based: Home based employees primarily work from their home offices and come into an APS facility on an as-needed basis. Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees). Working from a home office requires adequate technology and an appropriate ergonomic set up. Role types are subject to change based on business need.
