About the role

This position is a Mission Essential role, requiring you to work during emergencies to ensure continuation of essential functions. You may be required to work at the designated duty location, a telework site, or an alternate location/facility.

Responsibilities

• Performs research to resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Investigates stock, record, and material discrepancies impacting inventory balances.
• Receives and addresses communications concerning discrepancies involving material inspections, issues, shipments, receipts, storage, and inventory adjustment actions.
• Performs physical inventory counts, material inspections, and location survey checks.
• Updates records based on cyclic inspections and researches receipt discrepancies for record adjustments.
• Investigates material and responds to defective material messages in support of the COSIS program.
• Assists in the development of quality control plans and process improvement initiatives to enhance inventory accuracy and accountability.
• Assists in cyclic inspections and ad hoc discrepancy processing.
• May operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) such as forklifts and stock selectors to move material.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Non-Critical Sensitive with Secret Access security requirement; appointment subject to a favorable suitability or fitness determination.
• Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): Non-Exempt.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain licenses and/or certifications required by the installation, federal, state, and local laws.
• Title 18 U.S.C., Sections 921 and 922, automatically disqualifies anyone convicted of a felony or misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, or anyone subject to a domestic violence protective order.
• Selectees must possess a REAL ID or other acceptable identification documents to access certain federal facilities.
• This position may be used to fill various shifts within DLA Distribution Anniston.

Qualifications

To qualify for this Supply Technician position, your resume and supporting documentation must demonstrate:

• Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Creditable specialized experience includes:
  • Conducting physical inventories and location surveys.
  • Investigating stock, record, or material discrepancies impacting inventory balances.
  • Preparing reports concerning results of investigations performed.
• Education Substitution: Graduate education may be credited in instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. One academic year of graduate education is considered the number of credit hours your graduate school defines as one year of full-time study (typically 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours).
• Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations.

If using education completed in foreign colleges or universities, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education programs and deemed equivalent to U.S. accredited programs.

Physical Demands

• Research, survey, and count various types of material, including heavy and bulky items stored on pallets or in high-level locations.
• Operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and handle, push, and lift items weighing up to 40 pounds, occasionally up to 70 pounds with assistance.
• May operate a bicycle, sedan, or pick-up truck to move between work sites, depending on equipment availability and depot location.

Work Environment

• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
• Involves moderate risks or discomforts, such as working around moving warehouse equipment, carts, or machines.
• May require the use of protective clothing or gear, including masks, gowns, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, and gloves.
