Supply Technician.

Responsibilities

• Performs causative research to resolve critical inventory discrepancies.
• Conducts extensive research on inventory discrepancies and imbalances identified through warehouse denials, customer complaints/inquiries, physical inventory counts, location surveys, and special inspections.
• Determines the causes of discrepancies and makes or coordinates appropriate adjustments to correct inventory records and documents.
• Processes Supply Discrepancy Reports (SDRs) through research and resolution.
• Performs Shelf-Life updates and Care of Supplies in Storage (COSIS) on stock as required.
• Participates in evaluating and analyzing trends for inventory discrepancies.
• Assists specialists in the analysis of automated systems and the implementation of new applications.
• May operate material handling equipment (MHE) such as forklifts and stock selectors to move material.

Requirements

• Tour of Duty: Set Schedule.
• Security Requirements: Non-Critical Sensitive with Secret Access. Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination; unfavorably adjudicated background checks will be grounds for removal.
• Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): Non-Exempt.
• Selective Service Requirement: Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
• Bargaining Unit Status: No.
• Selectees are required to have a REAL ID or other acceptable identification documents to access certain federal facilities.
• Pre-Employment Physical: Required.
• You will be a Mission Essential employee, required to work during an emergency to ensure continuation of essential functions.
• This position may be used to fill various shifts located within Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
• Subject to Overseas Rotation Agreement, Tour Length: 36 months.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain licenses and/or certifications required by the installation, federal, state, and local laws.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license/certification to operate government vehicles.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain required hazardous materials handling certifications.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Supply Technician, your resume and supporting documentation must support:

• Education: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-05 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
• Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Creditable specialized experience includes:
  • Conducting physical inventories and location surveys.
  • Investigating stock/record/material discrepancies impacting inventory balances or Supply Discrepancy Reports (SDRs).
  • Preparing reports concerning results of investigations performed.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Physical Demands

• Incumbent is routinely handling hazardous property.
• Work is performed in office settings and warehouses.
• Requires standing on hard surfaces maintaining balance for extended periods of time, bending, stooping, reaching, and twisting in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
• Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds; heavier items may require assistance from others or use of materials handling equipment.
• Must be capable of accomplishing emergency escape procedures from a captive aisle stock selector at heights of 40 feet and aisle mobile hybrid crane at heights of 62 feet.

Working Conditions

• Workers may be exposed to hazardous vapors, liquids, powders, and solids, and the possibility of cuts and bruises.
• May be subject to hazards of working close to moving equipment, such as forklifts, trucks, and conveyor lines.
• The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions, such as working around moving parts, exposure to adverse weather conditions, or exposure to irritant chemicals.
• Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear, such as masks, coats, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, and/or gloves.

• Graduate Education: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
• Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
