Position Summary
The S&OP Planner supports the execution of production and material plans within a manufacturing environment, ensuring alignment between demand, inventory, and plant capabilities. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate planning data, supporting daily scheduling activities, and coordinating with production, procurement, quality, logistics and customer service teams. The position plays a key role in ensuring materials and finished goods are available to meet customer demand while supporting inventory targets and plant efficiency.
Essential Functions
- Support the development and execution of production schedules based on demand, inventory, and plant constraints, ensuring daily alignment with manufacturing for on-time fulfillment
- Manage and update production orders and planning parameters in ERP/MRP systems
- Maintain capacity constraints, adjust plans accordingly, and monitor downtime impacts
- Own raw material planning and partner with raw material buyer and procurement to execute purchase orders and maintain uninterrupted production supply
- Monitor raw material and finished goods inventory levels, proactively identify shortage or excess risks while supporting safety stock, reorder point, and inventory target management
- Support initiatives focused on planning accuracy, data quality, and process efficiency
- Support S&OP and monthly planning processes with data preparation and insights
- Analyze inventory, production, and fulfillment performance to deliver KPI reporting (service, inventory health, plan adherence) and support S&OP decision-making
- Prioritize orders based on business needs and proactively escalate risks impacting customer delivery (e.g., backorders, delays, allocations)
- Partner with Operations, Quality, Procurement, Logistics and Customer Service to align supply plans with real-time conditions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 0–2 years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or planning preferred
- Strong proficiency in Excel (data analysis, pivot tables, formulas)
- Experience or exposure to ERP/MRP systems
- Basic understanding of batch manufacturing, material flow, and inventory management
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Analytical mindset with ability to interpret demand, inventory, and supply signals
- Effective cross-functional communication in a plant environment
- Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing production conditions
- Problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis
- Ownership and accountability in supporting execution
