Our client is seeking a hands-on Supplier Performance Manager to interface directly with internal purchasing, supplier quality teams, and the external supply base to elevate overall performance. In this high-visibility role, you will deep-dive into assigned suppliers and their sub-tiers to identify operational risks, drive On-Time and On-Quality Delivery (OTD/OQD), and ensure full industrialization and production readiness.
Responsibilities
- Visit supplier sites across heavy manufacturing commodities (machining, composites, sheet metal, raw materials) to evaluate shop-floor operations, machine capacity, and schedule risks.
- Implement the Supplier Performance management strategy for respective suppliers.
- Perform Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA / 5 Whys / 8D) to eliminate bottlenecks, resolve delivery delays, and drive On-Time Delivery (OTD) back to target.
- Create daily/weekly supply-and-demand burn-down charts in Excel to model capacity and track recovery progress.
- Connect seamlessly across all operational levels—from plant-floor workers to senior management—and translate floor data into concise PowerPoint executive summaries for C-suite stakeholders.
- Implement relevant Supplier Key Performance Indicators to properly monitor supplier performance.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of progressive supplier management experience within heavy manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated history stepping onto troubled factory floors, conducting root-cause analysis, and building actionable recovery plans.
- Experience managing quality metrics with a clear understanding of how poor quality and high scrap rates directly destroy OTD schedules.
- Practical working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred) and SRM tools.
- Knowledge of aviation manufacturing, supply chain, planning, engineering, and quality concepts; machine, sheet metal, casting, forging, forming, composite, and/or raw material commodities.
- Strong technical aptitude and hands-on mastery of Excel for capacity modeling, supply/demand burn-down curves, Pivot Tables, and data manipulation.
- Proven ability to synthesize complex floor data into clear, high-level PowerPoint updates and executive summaries for senior leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
