About the role
Assist managers, servers, and cooks in providing quality food and beverage service to guests, according to hotel specifications, courteously and efficiently. Maintain cleanliness of tables, service areas, and equipment. Expedite food/tickets in a timely and organized manner. Stock all wares and equipment needed for service. Must have a flexible schedule and current CA Food Handler Certifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
- Prioritize, organize, and follow up
- Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment
- Follow directions thoroughly
- Clean and set tables to restaurant standards
- Deposit dishes appropriately in the dishroom or other specified area
- Pull dirty plates from tables while guests are still seated
- Serve beverages promptly
- Stock bussing stations
- Deliver required food plates or beverages as necessary
- Assist in room service as needed
- Assist other restaurant personnel with tasks when necessary
- Understand a guest’s service needs
- Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team
- Work with minimal supervision
- Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data
- Understand guests’ service needs
- Take pride in personal appearance and follow hotel grooming guidelines
- Be well organized
- Set up and maintain proper mise en place and inform supervisor of any shortages
- Maintain concentration and think clearly when providing service to guests
- Maintain knowledge of wine/champagne characteristics, glassware, garnishes, and menu items (preparation methods, ingredients, sauces, presentation, and prices)
- Maintain good coordination and timing while serving orders quickly
- Exert physical effort in transporting food and beverage to guests
- Endure abundant physical movements throughout the work areas
- Be familiar with all hotel services, features, and local attractions to respond to guest inquiries accurately
- Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by liquor regulations as per TABC guidelines and provincial liquor codes
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Some previous experience in a luxury or ultra-luxury environment
