Server Assistant

About the role

The Surfing Fox, located in The Pierside Hotel, is a Santa Monica restaurant blending modern California cuisine with vintage surf culture. We're looking for independent thinkers and creative spirits to join our team and help deliver fresh, local flavors with a passion for hospitality.

Responsibilities

• Clear all used tableware, napkins, and refuse from tables to tubs in the bus station; wipe tables, chairs, and surrounding floor areas.
• Reset tables according to established standards to seat new customers quickly.
• Remove full tubs from bus stations to the dishwashing area and maintain a clean, well-stocked, and orderly bus station.
• Retrieve cleaned dishes, glassware, and utensils from the dish room and distribute them to service stations.
• Sweep restaurant floors throughout the shift to maintain a clean and presentable environment.
• Retrieve requisitioned items from the stockroom, ensuring accuracy, and stock supplies while rotating stock.
• Assist waitstaff by refilling customer beverages and accommodating requests for additional condiments, food items, or clean tableware.
• Keep ice stations filled by carrying buckets of ice from the main ice machine.
• Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested by management.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of restaurant operations.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs, including serving trays, carts, tables, chairs, and small equipment, up to 75% of the time.
• Full range of mobility and ability to travel up to 300 feet regularly throughout the shift.
• Ability to stand continuously during preparation, service hours, or expediting.
• Ability to read meters and controls.
