Supervisory Regional Security Specialist

Summary: Security programs are essential to the accomplishment of the mission and goals of United States Attorneys' Offices (USAOs). EOUSA provides security program support for USAOs by supplying policy and procedural assistance for the implementation and conduct of all aspects of security programs in accordance with applicable statutes, Executive Orders, and Departmental Orders, to ensure regulatory requirements and the unique needs of each office are met.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of supervisory functions relating to employment, classification, appraisal, discipline, and awards for assigned regional security staff.
• Coordinate with local law enforcement and crime prevention and/or threat assessment organizations (USMS or FBI) to provide personal security briefings and training concerning the personal safety of district personnel.
• Manage organizational changes to the structure and content of the personnel security program or program segments as directed.
• Identify ways to improve production and increase efficiency and quality of the work of the unit and implement improvements.
• Provide training to district personnel in the proper use and protection of secure communications equipment.
• Identify physical security vulnerabilities and recommend and implement measures and practices to eliminate real and potential shortfalls or deficiencies.

Requirements

• You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
• Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication, including fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
• You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
• If selected, you may be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
• If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one-year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.
• Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
• You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the specialized experience requirement. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is defined as:

• Managing or leading a regional security program that involves physical security, personnel security, threat management, or emergency preparedness.
• Providing technical advice on national security disciplines and security awareness.
• Working with external law enforcement to organize and participate in security briefings to assist with threat management.
• Managing sensitive information to ensure proper handling and record keeping.
