Duties
- Leads high-level cross-functional teams executing complex efforts often requiring management of competing equities.
- Serves as a nuclear weapon system technical expert, which leads, manages, directs, or is responsible for activities either directly, or in support of current and new DoD funded acquisition efforts.
- Plans, advises, organizes, and directs technical content for organization's assigned programs.
- Examines and approves technical initiatives, proposed projects and analyses, and test activities across the directorate.
- Develops, oversees and directs technical processes for application across platform, system, and organizational lines.
- Develops and prioritizes organizational technical project goals and mission objectives and makes recommendations to the Director.
- Advises technical teams on overall priorities and objectives for assigned projects; assesses progress toward objectives; identifies problems and takes appropriate corrective action; evaluates new concepts and ideas of technical and management importance.
- Provides organizational senior leadership with technical management solutions for short- and long-term organization business, financial, manpower, and operational planning, and oversees cost, schedule and performance of technical activities.
- Serves as the Organization Senior Functional manager for all scientists and engineers across the Nuclear Technology and Integration Directorate.
- Mentors and guides Scientists and Engineering workforce to develop skills required to accomplish Directorate mission and develop as leaders for the Air Force.
Requirements

- Ability to obtain & maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with special caveats and SCI eligibility
- Employee must meet the education and specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Professional and Scientific Positions
- To qualify as an engineer, employee must meet the education and specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Professional and Scientific Positions
- Technical expertise and authoritative knowledge and experience in nuclear certification, nuclear weapon vulnerability assessments, nuclear weapons effects, intelligence activities, and future nuclear capability development.
- Experience providing strong visionary technical leadership, driving the development and implementation of innovative technology strategies that align with organizational goals, while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement among cross-functional teams.
- A professional engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution is highly desired. An advanced engineering degree, such as a Master’s or a PhD is preferred.
- This is a Critical Engineering Position (CEP).
