About the Role
Serves as a District specialist in all matters pertaining to field surveys, mapping, photogrammetry, and related activities. Coordinates all land survey requests performed by Construction Branch survey crews, including those for other District offices such as Engineering Branch, Real Estate, Operations, and Planning, Environmental, and Regulatory Division where Area Office assistance is available.
Responsible for quality assurance of raw survey data and processing land surveys for use in construction contract plans for the Area Office. Schedules, coordinates, and manages all survey needs for the Area Office. Processes land survey data required for dredging plans and specifications, including 3D digital terrain modeling and placement area and levee volume calculations. Coordinates surveys requiring technical knowledge, tact, diplomacy, and communication skills to ensure buy-in from all parties.
Exercises considerable initiative and resourcefulness in completing assignments. Supervises the Land Survey Section in the Northern Area Office, providing direction and preparing yearly TAPES for each employee. Coordinates all land survey work done by the Land Survey Section and tracks and monitors the work of other survey crews within the Construction Branch.

- Set priorities and oversee work progress as a team lead (GS-11) or assign work to subordinates and oversee progress (GS-12).
- Process raw survey data and ensure quality assurance for construction contract plans.
- Schedule, coordinate, and manage all survey needs for the Area Office.
- Process 3D digital terrain modeling and perform volume calculations for dredging plans and specifications.
- Supervise the Land Survey Section, including preparing yearly TAPES for employees.
- Track and monitor the work of survey crews within the Construction Branch.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must be registered with the Selective Service.
- A trial or probationary period may be required for external candidates.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- This position is eligible for situational telework.

Qualifications
GS-11 Specialized Experience:
- Assisting with technical review to engineers and guidance to District elements concerning cost, quality, and performance.

- Setting priorities and overseeing work progress as a team lead.
GS-12 Specialized Experience: One year of experience in:
- Providing technical review to engineers and guidance to District elements concerning cost, quality, and performance.
- Coordinating survey work and developing approaches to investigate survey performance.
- Setting priorities, assigning work to subordinates, and overseeing progress.
Hiring at the GS-11 level with full performance potential to GS-12. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation under Section 9905 for Certain Personnel of the DoD.
