SUPERVISORY CIVIL ENGINEER
About the Role
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY CIVIL ENGINEER in the PLANNING, DESIGN, AND CONSTRUCTION DIRECTORATE of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and/or direct the preparation of working drawings and specifications, and review construction drawings and specifications.
- Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, considering the difficulty and requirements of the assignments.
- Review designs, plans, specifications, and design analyses prepared by others.
- Resolve complaints from individual employees, address group grievances, investigate serious complaints, and involve HRO as necessary for timely and effective conflict resolution.
Qualifications
This position has a selective placement factor: You must currently be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, including:
- Providing technical expertise and regional interface for design, design review, construction, and rehabilitation of diverse projects within the Civil Engineering Program.
- Supervising a technical staff of civilians and mentoring employees in specific tasks, job techniques, and processes.
- Monitoring civil engineering and technical performance and providing input into training plans.
- Coordinating civil engineering design with other organizational elements and technical disciplines to ensure integration of architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection building systems.
- Serving on independent technical review and quality assurance (QA) teams.
- Providing technical direction consistent with Navy policy to Field Engineering Commands and Architect-Engineer firms (AE).
