About the Role

This national security position involves supervising and directing Accounts Maintenance and Control functions, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and validity of accounting transactions and vendor payments.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct Accounts Maintenance and Control functions, verifying the accuracy, completeness, and validity of accounting transactions and vendor payments.
• Interpret Accounts Maintenance and Control regulations, requirements, and policies, including changes, updates, and automated systems modifications, to ensure compliance.
• Train and assist lower-level accounting technicians with techniques to correct and process accounting inputs.
• Ensure accuracy, propriety, and legality of accounting transactions through extensive review of documents.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• This position requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment due to potential access to classified information. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
• Males born after 12-31-1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Suitable for Federal employment.
• Must obtain and maintain a Financial Management Certification.
• New employees will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Must obtain and maintain a Level 1 Certification under the DoD Financial Management (FM) Certification Program within two years of employment unless already certified. Failure to do so may result in removal from the position or Federal service.
• Employment requires a background investigation which may delay the starting date. A favorable security determination is required to occupy a sensitive position; failure to maintain eligibility may result in termination.

Qualifications

• Applicants must have related financial experience and/or a related financial degree (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Management, Actuarial Science, or related fields).
• One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service is required. Specialized experience includes:
  • Processing and auditing complex pay transactions.
  • Reconciling pay system and financial system data.
  • Working with a variety of electronic systems to review and resolve pay transaction issues.
• Volunteer experience may be credited if it builds critical competencies, knowledge, and skills relevant to the position.
• GS-08 Substitution of Education for Experience: Eighteen months of graduate-level education may substitute for specialized experience if directly related to the position. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Transcripts must be submitted if using education to substitute for experience.

• Positions may be filled as permanent or term with a full-time or part-time work schedule. Pay varies by geographic location.
• Selections are subject to restrictions resulting from the DoD Program for Stability of Civilian Employment.
• A one-year probationary or trial period may be required.
• This position is Non-Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act.
• Travel requirement is seldom.
• This position is not covered by a bargaining unit.
