About the role
You will act as a subject matter expert in accounting and finance, resolve complex financial issues, and advise team members as needed.
You will plan and assign work by priority, provide technical and administrative oversight, and promote team building to improve the team's work quality.
You will set performance standards and review your team’s work to make sure it meets those standards.
You will attend meetings to justify and negotiate accounting and financial management matters.
You will apply accounting principles, regulations, and appropriation law to ensure accurate financial data and successful audits.
You will enhance current reconciliation methods or develop new ones.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Must achieve Financial Management Level III certification within prescribed timelines.
- May be required to wear personal protective equipment.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics.
Qualifications
- In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector using financial management systems to gather reports, financial statements, and journal vouchers for analysis, independent studies and audits; interpreting complex regulations and policy, leading others, and advising on financial transactions that are not aligned with government accounting standards to ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting processes.
