SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTANT.
This national-security position may require access to classified information; a favorable suitability review and security clearance is required. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
Responsibilities
- Supervise functions involving the preparation, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of accounting data.
- Operate, maintain, and modify accounting systems to meet local needs.
- Coordinate and implement policy and procedural improvements to correct identified operational deficiencies.
- Maintain a corporate perspective of accounting programs and serve as a liaison with customers to assess the effectiveness of accounting services in meeting budget execution and financial management information needs.
- Review and analyze new or revised accounting policies and procedures to ensure sound accounting principles are applied.
- Plan and assign work based on priorities, difficulty, requirements, and employee capabilities, including setting short-term priorities and schedules for completion.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Registered for Selective Service (males born after 12-31-1959).
- Suitable for Federal employment.
- Candidates must have served 3 months after their latest competitive appointment in the Federal service.
- Must meet time-in-grade requirements as specified in the Qualifications section.
- New employees must obtain and maintain a Financial Management Certification.
- New employees will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
Qualifications
This position has a positive education requirement. To qualify, you must meet one of the following:
- Completion of all requirements for a bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university.
- A degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting (up to 6 hours may be in business law).
- A combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge, plus 24 semester hours in accounting/auditing courses (which may include up to 6 hours of business law), or a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
Specialized Experience: Defined as providing professional accounting services ensuring overall effectiveness and efficiency of accounting operations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); independently applying analytical and evaluative methods to interpret accounting data, financial statements, reports, processes, or systems; or providing technical accounting expertise to assist in the design, implementation, and assessment of operating systems, procedures, or internal control processes.
