Supervisor - Tooling
Summary
This position is primarily responsible for scheduling mold repairs, managing mold spare parts inventory, overseeing and performing mold changeovers, and ensuring all company policies and written procedures are followed.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensures all company policies and written procedures are followed.
- Enforces safety and sanitation regulations.
- Conducts employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures.
- Strives continually to work toward decreasing unscheduled machine downtime.
- Inspects materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
- Keeps records of employee attendance and hours worked.
- Maintains operations data, such as time, production, and cost records, and prepares management reports of production results.
- Observes work and monitors gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
- Plans and establishes work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
- Requisitions materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
- Sets up and adjusts machines and equipment.
- Coordinates verification of all output daily.
- Captures logistical coordination for all mold changes needing to be initiated.
- Captures mold schedule and assists with mold changes as needed.
- Ensures processes and products conform to company quality standards.
- Ensures timely delivery of product to downstream manufacturing processes.
- Troubleshoots mold issues to keep the molding department operating efficiently.
- Sets up processes as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education And/Or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer Skills
- Making use of Manufacturing Software.
- Making use of Spreadsheet Software (Excel).
- Making use of Word Processing Software (Word).

- Excellent judgment and discretion; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle work-related stress is required.

- Forklift and electric pallet jack for material / mold movement.
- Overhead crane for mold changes.
- Scales for color changes & inventory verification.
- Injection molding machines.
- Material handling system.
- Auxiliary equipment such as but not limited to logic seals, thermolators, mold heater controllers.
- Hazardous material protective apparel.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
