About the role
Supervises a team of security personnel, including guards. Monitors, audits, and maintains contract security requirements under the direction of the Security Director while maintaining constant communication with Building Management.
Responsibilities
- Patrol buildings, grounds, docks, and worksites periodically, logging information.
- Supervise a team of security personnel.
- Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are secure.
- Warn violators of rule infractions (e.g., loitering, smoking, carrying forbidden articles).
- Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards and unsecured doors.
- Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of company property.
- Sound alarms or call police/fire departments in case of fire or unauthorized persons.
- Check DVR video recorders daily to ensure live pictures and 24/7 recording.
- Report, record, and communicate scheduled maintenance needs, including emergency repairs.
- Conduct written Security Officer and Building Safety Audits weekly/monthly per shift.
- Perform daily security post inspections to ensure compliance, guard alertness, and equipment functionality.
- Interview management and coworkers (e.g., Yard Goat Operators, Lead Floor Supervisors) to verify security officer performance.
- Report suspicious activity or unethical behavior among coworkers, clients, or contractors.
- Permit authorized persons to enter property and regulate vehicle/pedestrian traffic at plant entrances.
- Record data such as property damage or unusual occurrences for management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly manage 15–20 security guards and/or supervisors.
- Carry out supervisory duties in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding/disciplining employees, and resolving problems.
- May require overtime as needed.
Qualifications
- High school education; two to five years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least one year of supervisory experience.
- Ability to read simple words, recognize similarities/differences between words/numbers, and print/speak simple sentences.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using American units (money, weight, volume, distance).
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out simple instructions and handle standardized situations with minimal variables.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to use hands, reach with arms, talk, and hear.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close/distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Occasionally exposed to extreme cold and heat.

Pay
Anticipated starting salary range: $65,000 – $70,000. The final starting salary may be adjusted based on market conditions, location, and other factors.
