Supervisor Security

About the role
The Security Supervisor oversees the security personnel and operations of our Safety Assessment site in Reno, NV, ensuring the safety of people and property. They lead, train, and manage security staff, implement security protocols, and respond to incidents. Responsibilities include supervising staff, conducting patrols, monitoring surveillance systems, and maintaining security records. The role ensures protection against fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, and other hazards, inspects credentials and facilities, and reports irregularities. The Security Supervisor develops and administers programs to protect personnel and property, ensures compliance with security policies, safeguards intellectual property, and conducts investigations into noncompliance or breaches.
Responsibilities
- Supervise security guards in all aspects of facilities security to ensure safety and security of the facility, employees, guests, and animals.
- Ensure all security policies are communicated to all site employees and are adequately enforced.
- Supervise the preparation and distribution of employee identification badges, following established procedures and policies.
- Schedule security staff work assignments to ensure adequate coverage of all security operations at the site.
- Monitor electronic security systems and take necessary actions as required by established SOPs.
- Provide coverage for absences of security staff as needed.
- Coordinate with security vendors, industry peers, local law enforcement agencies, and corporate security staff on all relevant matters.
- Authorize security decisions regarding local police, fire, and hazardous facilities situations in the absence of department management.
- Conduct preliminary investigations, in conjunction with local management, Human Resources, and Corporate Security, to identify breaches in security, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate all local security issues with Corporate Security to ensure communication of significant issues and problems.
- Communicate with other company locations to make them aware of issues and/or problems that may affect them.
- Provide direct daily supervision and review the work of assigned departmental employees to ensure accuracy and adherence to pertinent policies, practices, and procedures (SOPs, safety procedures, and biosafety protocols).
- Schedule and prioritize the workload of group members.
- Assist in the interview and selection of qualified non-exempt personnel.
- Recommend personnel actions, including hiring, promotions, and raises.
- Partner with Human Resources and departmental management to handle disciplinary issues.
- Draft appropriate personnel action paperwork.
Requirements
- Associate degree or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in a business setting with at least 3 years directly related to a security function. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
- Valid Driver’s license.
Pay
The pay for this position is between $65,000 and $75,000. Salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 6 AM – 2 PM daily, with support for call-outs as needed.
