About the role
Maintains efficient use of resources and labor by reviewing scheduling and staffing needs. Acts as a liaison between staff and department leadership, communicating important issues to leadership promptly. Serves as a role model by demonstrating leadership, communication, initiative, personal and professional growth, poise, and self-control. Monitors staff activities in the clinical setting to ensure services are provided according to department and facility policies and procedures. Participates in and proactively initiates performance improvement activities. Completes performance appraisals on time, counsels staff, and initiates progressive discipline as needed.
Responsibilities
- Maintains efficient use of resources and labor by reviewing scheduling and staffing needs.
- Acts as a liaison between staff and department leadership, communicating important issues to leadership promptly.
- Serves as a role model by demonstrating leadership, communication, initiative, personal and professional growth, poise, and self-control.
- Maintains good working relationships with all customers and communicates effectively with other healthcare team members.
- Makes appropriate decisions in stressful situations and handles multiple projects.
- Maintains good working relationships and open lines of communication with all and collaborates with other departments to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Develops and implements educational processes for all team members and functions as manager in the absence of the manager.
- Performs clinical duties when needed, maintaining all required clinical competencies.
- Enforces standard precautions and safety regulations according to hospital policies.
- Attends new leader orientation and ongoing management/leadership classes.
- Ensures staff adherence to AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements
- Knowledge and appropriate implementation of applicable regulatory and professional standards.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including documentation in the patient care record (EMR).
- Ability to handle multiple projects and initiatives and make appropriate decisions in stressful situations.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships and open lines of communication with all and collaborate with other departments to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Develops and implements educational processes for all team members and able to function as manager in the absence of the manager.
- Critical thinking and patient assessment skills with the ability to evaluate and modify treatment plans utilizing respiratory therapy driven protocols.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak conversational English.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science.
- Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science preferred.
- 3+ years critical care experience.
Skills
