Supervisor Respiratory Care

Job Summary

This role involves leading the Respiratory Care technical staff, providing instruction and evaluation, and assisting the Director/Manager in department management. It also includes direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, instruct, and evaluate Respiratory Care Practitioners
• Assist the Director/Manager in overall department management
• Provide direct patient care
• Demonstrate strong leadership, instructional, and evaluative skills
• Communicate effectively with staff and interdisciplinary contacts
• Provide expertise in care across all areas of the hospital and patient populations
• Oversee staff and workload, respecting changing priorities
• Supervise patient care in terms of workload assignments, quality of care, and resource utilization
• Manage daily operations to ensure compliance with standards of practice and licensing/regulatory requirements
• Supervise training of new employees and students and nursing personnel
• Function as a resource for both internal and external customers in all aspects of Respiratory Care
• Aid in coordinating services to ensure appropriateness, consistency, efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of service for all patient age groups

Requirements

• Associates in Respiratory Therapy or related field
• Minimum of five (5) years of clinical acute care experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• California Respiratory Care Practitioner license
• Basic Life Support - CPR
• Registered Respiratory Therapist
