Job Summary
This role involves leading the Respiratory Care technical staff, providing instruction and evaluation, and assisting the Director/Manager in department management. It also includes direct patient care.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, instruct, and evaluate Respiratory Care Practitioners
- Assist the Director/Manager in overall department management
- Provide direct patient care
- Demonstrate strong leadership, instructional, and evaluative skills
- Communicate effectively with staff and interdisciplinary contacts
- Provide expertise in care across all areas of the hospital and patient populations
- Oversee staff and workload, respecting changing priorities
- Supervise patient care in terms of workload assignments, quality of care, and resource utilization
- Manage daily operations to ensure compliance with standards of practice and licensing/regulatory requirements
- Supervise training of new employees and students and nursing personnel
- Function as a resource for both internal and external customers in all aspects of Respiratory Care
- Aid in coordinating services to ensure appropriateness, consistency, efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of service for all patient age groups
Requirements
- Associates in Respiratory Therapy or related field
- Minimum of five (5) years of clinical acute care experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- California Respiratory Care Practitioner license
- Basic Life Support - CPR
- Registered Respiratory Therapist
