Supervisor-Operations

Directly responsible for the safe, reliable and cost-effective operation of crude oil and natural gas pipeline system operations, compressor stations, pump stations, oil terminals and all related equipment, as well as supervision of multiple operations personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with internal standards, approved policies, procedures, safety rules, budgets, and in a manner that promotes customer satisfaction.
  • Plan, schedule, assign, and direct work of Operations personnel.
  • Manage all PHMSA and regulatory requirements; assist during inspections or audits for the area of responsibility.
  • Monitor and implement company procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Oversee the safety program, environmental compliance, governmental compliance, employee training and development, facility security, and all personnel functions.
  • Ensure all requirements of the Operator Qualification (OQ) Program are met for both contract and company employees.
  • Provide leadership and manage planning and direction of activities at multiple locations within the area.
  • Supervise contract personnel engaged in construction, testing, and operations of facilities.
  • Manage, plan, and forecast Capital and O&M Budgets for the area of responsibility.
  • Participate in the development of O&M procedures, site-specific procedures, project scopes, and work plans.
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
  • Coordinate safety training and inspections, including completing documentation and conducting safety incident investigations.
  • Oversee operation and maintenance of equipment, instrumentation, pumps, vessels, pipelines, compressors, auxiliary equipment, engines, turbines, motors, cooling equipment, valves, seals, and other related equipment.
  • Directly manage construction and/or maintenance activities performed by internal personnel or third parties.
  • Responsible for cash flow management, cost monitoring, and control.
  • Assist with AFE project preparation, scheduling, monitoring project costs, and project completion.
  • Conduct performance evaluations of direct reports.
  • Work with the Operations Manager to develop short- and long-range plans, goals, and objectives for compressor and pipeline operations.
  • Provide support to project management and business development as needed.
  • Organize work for timely completion and complete all applicable documentation and record keeping.
  • Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, regulatory, and Company tariff requirements.
  • Respond to emergency situations at any hour of the day or night, including possessing required equipment, tools, designated forms, policies, regulations, and manuals.
  • Foster a positive, open work environment, systems approaches, and disciplined execution of all assigned tasks.
  • Manage personnel-related matters, including performance-based feedback, support, and administrative paperwork.
  • Demonstrate and enforce the highest professional integrity, ethics, and safety discipline.
  • Reinforce a culture of regulatory compliance.
  • Interact with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and consistently high performance.
  • Work non-traditional hours as needed and maintain a high regard for personal safety, company assets, employees, and the general public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including daily, weekly, monthly, or special project tasks.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline. A minimum of five (5) years of direct work experience in crude oil/gas pipeline system operations, including prior supervisory responsibility, may substitute for a degree.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with mechanical and pipeline systems.
  • Demonstrated skills in employee supervision and/or asset management.
  • Knowledge and experience in the operation of pipeline, measurement, pump stations, compression, and all related equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of crude oil, flammable gases, liquids, and high- and low-pressure systems.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

Physical Demands

  • Sitting, standing, walking, or moving throughout the facility; driving.
  • Talking, seeing (close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus), hearing, feeling.
  • Bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Minimal safety hazards; general office working conditions.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Regular use of hands to type, touch, handle, or feel.
  • Frequent standing and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Occasional walking, climbing, or balancing.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions

  • Living environs may be negotiable and relevant to the work location.
  • Frequent overnight travel may be required.
  • Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • Must clear a drug screen and complete background check, including a credit report for certain positions, after an offer is extended and prior to employment.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
