About the role
The incumbent coordinates the daily activities of the Surgical Technologist staff and is responsible for their needed equipment and supplies to provide efficient, high quality care. This position also maintains adequate staff, including hiring, evaluating, counseling, scheduling, and terminating staff members as needed. The incumbent develops staff to ensure an effective continuum of functions, formulates goals, action plans, policies, and procedures, and implements new processes or changes, monitoring effectiveness and providing feedback.
Responsibilities

- Develop staff to ensure an effective continuum of functions, formulating goals, action plans, policies, and procedures, and implementing new processes or changes, monitoring effectiveness and providing feedback.
- Communicate routinely with department management staff as well as other departments within the hospital, patients, external facilities, and physicians.
- Support policies and procedures of the medical center and the Surgical Services department.
- Communicate with department leadership regarding any problems, issues, or concerns.
- Ensure compliance with Renown Regional Medical Center and JCHAO standards and policies.
- Make independent decisions on the division of work assignments to subordinates.
- Act as a role model and resource to the Surgical Services staff and physicians.
- Provide patient care.
Requirements
- Education: Working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Completion of a formal technologist school program or a formal hospital-based training program.
- Experience: 3 years as a Technologist required.
- Licenses: None required.
- Certifications: Current BLS certification by the American Heart Association standards required. Surgical technologist certification preferred.
- Computer / Typing: Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
