Qualifications And Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • New Jersey Permanent Supervisor's Certificate.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience.
  • Two (2) years in a position that involves professional development is preferred, e.g., literacy or mathematics coach, PLC chairperson, SLC subcommittee chairperson, grade-level chairperson, etc.
  • Responsible for creating and meeting goals, consistent with the district's mission and values.
  • Knowledge of the New Jersey Professional Standards for teachers and school leaders, the New Jersey Professional Development Standards, and the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
  • Experience managing change and driving outcomes in complex environments with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven experience across large systems with evidence of successful impact.
  • Strong knowledge of K-12 educational setting and "best practices" as identified in research, preferably in an urban setting.
  • Proven ability to write comprehensive reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of Staff Development in implementation the District's Strategic Plan.
  • Support the development of district personnel through monthly conferences.
  • Support the Deputy Superintendent's initiatives relevant to Office of Academic Services.
  • Assist development and support of School Leadership Councils (SLCs) and School Improvement Panels (SIPs) as defined in the NTU labor contract and relevant statutes and regulations.
  • Collaborate with Office of Academic Services and Office of Planning, Evaluation, and Testing to ensure that staff development initiatives are based on student achievement data.
  • Assist in the orientation process and on-going support for all teachers and school administrators.
  • Provide on-going support to Mentor Teachers throughout the District.
  • Ensure that all school leaders and teachers are made aware of professional development requirements set forth by the State of New Jersey and are well informed of professional development opportunities.
  • Facilitate the continual learning of teachers and school leaders through collaboration with local colleges and universities (e.g., student interns and student teacher placements).
  • Support consultants and vendors to provide professional development opportunities and services to all staff within the District.
  • Respond to requests from principals and department heads for the creation and development of customized professional development and facilitation services.
  • Analyze evaluation and training data to assess effectiveness and return on investment (ROI).
  • Present quality assurance and instructional development strategies internally and externally.
  • Observe, support and evaluate office personnel as assigned.
  • Manage the Office's budget, including budget development and procurement.

Pay, Employment Periodand Union Affiliation

Salary: $107,500 to $143,500 (for 2025-2026 School Year)
Employment Period: Twelve (12) Months
Union Affiliation: City Association of Supervisors and Administrators (C.A.S.A.)
