Facility Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Location Fayetteville, North Carolina Department Emergency Department Registration Job Family Management Work Shift Evenings (United States of America) Summary Supervises and coordinates the planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of the daily operations of patient access areas. Helps provide guidance for quality performance and the importance of data integrity. Coordinates staff development with departmental education coordinator and preceptors. Ensure compliance with all Joint Commission, CMS, and other governmental standards for Patient Access Processing. Major Job Functions The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Monitors and coordinates the daily activities of the Patient Access personnel to produce successful outcomesMaintains and prepares payroll time records and reportsInterviews and recommends applicants for employmentPrepares and presents performance reports to Leadership and others as necessaryAssist with coverage of Patient Access areas when shortages occur and cross trains in all areas of Patient AccessProvides leadership and support to all areas of patient access and is expected to be available to address any issuesConducts audits of employees work ensuring the data in the systems are accurate and completeCollaborates with management in continuous process improvementsProvide training and education on policies, procedures, and systemsCompletes and conducts yearly evaluationsFacilitate monthly department meetings and attend leadership meetingsOther duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job: Education And Formal Training High school diploma requiredAssociate degree in Business or Healthcare Administration preferredHBI or CHAA and CAM Certification required within one year of employment required Work Experience 3 years of hospital Patient Access experience required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English languageKnowledge of medical terminologyAbility to type 45 words per minuteAbility to coordinate staffing and other supervisory activities requiredAbility to work unsupervisedProficient in MS Office applications requiredCritical thinking skills and ability to problem solve and multi-task requiredMust be multi-skilled with the ability to appropriately handle complexity and stress with the changing needs of the patients, families, visitors, and the Health SystemKnowledge of insurance and collection of payments requiredExcellent verbal and written communication skills are requiredDemonstrated customer service skills to a variety of customers from different cultural and economic backgrounds preferredAbility to maintain current knowledge in all applications requires ability to maintain skill set in all registration applications, functions, and responsibilities Physical Requirements Must be able to communicate orally, see, and hear to collect informationMust have dexterity to operate office equipmentSubject to eyestrain due to the many hours spent looking at a computer screenSitting or standing in intervals for long periods of timeNoise level is low to moderateAnswers telephone calls, uses computer, and other business machines extensivelyBends, reaches pushes and pulls file drawers to file records and reportsAbility to transport patients and assist with baggageRegularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds Required Licenses And Certifications Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) - National Association Healthcare Access Management Cape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
