Supervisor of Credit & Collections

We are looking for an experienced Supervisor of Credit & Collections to lead accounts receivable efforts and support a high-performing credit function in Marlboro, Massachusetts. This role blends team leadership with hands-on collection activity, customer communication, reporting, and cross-functional problem-solving. The ideal candidate brings strong commercial collections experience, sound judgment, and a service-oriented approach to resolving outstanding balances while improving internal processes. Responsibilities: • Lead and coach a small collections team, setting priorities, monitoring performance, and supporting consistent follow-through on past-due accounts. • Conduct outbound outreach to customers each day to secure payment commitments, reduce delinquency, and help prevent accounts from being escalated to outside agencies. • Respond promptly to inbound customer inquiries, clarify account issues, and negotiate practical payment arrangements that align with business objectives. • Review receivables aging data, highlight overdue trends, and provide management with clear updates and analysis on outstanding balances. • Partner closely with Sales and Contracts to resolve billing concerns, credit questions, and disputed items that may delay payment. • Process account adjustments, coordinate refund requests, and track open disputes through resolution while maintaining accurate documentation. • Oversee payment activity and ensure timely follow-up on missed or partial remittances to improve cash collection results. • Prepare weekly team performance updates and develop reporting that identifies trends, risks, and opportunities within the collections portfolio. • Support month-end accounting activities related to bad debt, write-offs, and associated journal entries, while coordinating with third-party collection partners when needed. • Drive process improvement efforts, including documenting policies and procedures and helping create more efficient, customer-focused collection practices. • At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in credit and collections, including commercial accounts. • Prior experience leading or supervising collections staff in a fast-paced business environment. • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred. • Working knowledge of credit evaluation, commercial collections practices, and account analysis. • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and build productive relationships with internal stakeholders. • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence customers and business partners professionally. • Proven ability to manage competing deadlines, stay organized under pressure, and deliver accurate work on time. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and confidence working with reporting and account data.
