Pay

Pay range: $44.15 – $66.25 per hour.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; BSN, BS, or MSN required.
  • Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Three years of acute-care nursing experience (Emergency, Medical-Surgical, or Critical Care).
  • Three years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Current RN license in the applicable state.
  • Certification within one year of hire.
  • BCLS required; ACLS or PALS may be required within one year.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure administrative continuity for staff, patients, and families while acting as liaison for the hospital executive director on call and the patient-care-services management team.
  • Monitor and respond to activities across the entire facility during assigned hours.
  • Collaborate with Nursing Management and the Nursing Staffing Office to place nursing staff appropriately for staffing decisions.
  • Analyze resource-utilization trends and recommend changes to Nursing Director and/or Nurse Manager.
  • Consult on timely patient placement in conjunction with Admitting, Bed Management, Clinics, and patient-care areas.
  • Coordinate and conduct Daily Debriefings (including weekends and holidays); initiate and communicate capacity-management escalations.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to resolve clinical/operational issues; partner with Hospitalists in a co-management model to improve communication and throughput.
  • Serve as a resource for policies, standards, performance issues, and disciplinary counsel; escalate to Nurse Manager/Director as needed.
  • Address patient-care quality, compliance, and regulatory standards; initiate resolution and notify leadership for follow-up.
  • Act as on-site liaison for the Hospital Administrator on call and for media inquiries via the Office of Communications, Marketing, and Media.
  • Model professional communication and behaviors aligned with Caring Science; resolve Service Excellence issues on-site.
  • Foster a biogenic environment that supports professional development through Shared Governance, Caring Science, and mutual respect.
  • Ensure hospital disaster plans and policies are followed and coordinate activities as needed.
  • Represent the Chief Nursing Officer/Directors of Nursing with on-site operational and clinical leadership after normal business hours.
  • Prioritize admissions based on medical necessity and admission criteria; communicate across departments to expedite admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  • Provide independent crisis management, interpret policy, and make timely decisions affecting patient care.
  • Serve as the administrative liaison to patients, families, employees, and external customers.
