Schedule
Three 12-hour shifts: 19:30 – 07:30.
Pay
Pay range: $44.15 – $66.25 per hour.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; BSN, BS, or MSN required.
- Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Three years of acute-care nursing experience (Emergency, Medical-Surgical, or Critical Care).
- Three years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Current RN license in the applicable state.
- Certification within one year of hire.
- BCLS required; ACLS or PALS may be required within one year.
Responsibilities
- Ensures administrative continuity for staff, patients, and families while acting as liaison for the hospital executive director on call and the patient-care-services management team.
- Monitors and responds to activities across the entire hospital during assigned hours.
- Collaborates with Nursing Management and Nursing Staffing Office to place nursing staff appropriately for staffing decisions.
- Analyzes resource-utilization trends and recommends changes to Nursing Director and/or Nurse Manager.
- Consults to ensure timely patient placement in conjunction with Admitting Office, Bed Management, Clinics, and patient-care areas.
- Coordinates and conducts Daily Debriefings, including weekends and holidays; initiates capacity-management escalation when necessary.
- Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to resolve clinical and operational issues.
- Teams with Hospitalists in a co-management model to facilitate communication and throughput.
- Serves as a resource for policies, standards, and performance issues; provides disciplinary counsel as needed.
- Acts as a resource for patient-care quality, compliance, and regulatory standards; initiates resolution and notifies Nurse Manager/Director for follow-up.
- Serves as on-site liaison for Hospital Administrator on-call and for media inquiries via the Office of Communications Marketing and Media.
- Communicates professionally, modeling behaviors congruent with Caring Science; resolves Service Excellence issues.
- Fosters a biogenic environment that supports professional development through Shared Governance, Caring Science, and mutual respect.
- Ensures hospital disaster plans and policies are followed and coordinates activities as needed.
- Represents the Chief Nursing Officer/Directors of Nursing with on-site operational and clinical leadership after normal business hours.
- Prioritizes admissions based on medical necessity and admission criteria; communicates with departments to maximize efficiency and expedite admission, transfer, and discharge.
- Provides crisis management, interprets policy, and makes timely decisions affecting patient care.
- Serves as the administrative liaison to patients, families, employees, and external customers.
