Supervisor Maintenance - Machining
About the role
This fully onsite position is responsible for leading and coordinating maintenance activities within an automotive manufacturing facility to ensure equipment reliability, maximize uptime, and support production goals. This role oversees maintenance technicians, implements preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Advanced troubleshooting skills across:
- CNC Machining cells, vertical and horizontal
- Tooth Generation and Cutter Grind equipment
- Robotics (Fanuc)
- Electrical systems (Fanuc CNC and HMI with small stand-alone loading and robotic cells)
- Mechanical systems (Ball screws, bearings, crash recovery, machine alignment, chip conveyors and machine way covers)
- Hydraulics, pneumatics, chiller / cooling systems, and coolant systems
- Deep understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
- Uses CMMS systems and analyzes maintenance data to drive decisions.
- Reads and interprets schematics, blueprints, and ladder logic.
- Motivates and holds teams accountable; strong people leader.
- Manages shift-based teams and prioritizes maintenance work in real time.
- Promotes a safety-first culture and leads by example on the floor.
- Highly focuses on equipment uptime, reliability, and efficiency.
- Balances reactive maintenance (breakdowns) with proactive planning.
- Makes strong decisions under pressure—especially during production disruptions.
- Improves downtime, uptime, MTTR / MTBF, and PM completion rates.
Requirements
- Combination of 4 years of relevant work experience and/or education in a manufacturing or engineering field.
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; automotive industry preferred.
- 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Expertise in CMMS systems (e.g., Maximo, EAM, L2L).
Qualifications
The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on maintenance experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably in an automotive OEM or Tier 1 setting, along with demonstrated experience supervising or leading skilled trades teams. They possess a strong technical background in highly automated systems—including robotics, conveyors, stamping, welding, and assembly operations—and are comfortable working in lean, fast-paced production environments with demanding uptime and reliability expectations.
Skills
- Preferred qualifications include experience with automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier operations, Lean, Six Sigma, or TPM certification, and knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies and predictive maintenance tools.
