Location: Ontario, CA (91761) – onsite, first shift.
About the role
Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in installing, testing, repairing, and adjusting equipment to ensure production goals are met and all work orders are completed efficiently. Manage mechanics with a focus on orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and disciplining employees.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and direct maintenance employees in performing daily work.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving them.
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance strategies for electrical/automation systems, HVAC, air compressors, and ammonia systems, including scheduling and communication. Monitor and report completion in a CMMS system (JDE).
- Use lean tools to recommend measures for improving production methods, equipment performance, and efficiency. Drive the team to identify the root cause of all downtime.
- Collaborate closely with the Production Manager and supervisors to meet production goals by supplying necessary manpower for emergent equipment repairs.
- Develop and maintain training programs for departmental employees and plant personnel on procedures such as LOTO, TPC online, NFPA, PLC, and root cause analysis.
- Maintain conformance with OSHA, NFPA, DOLI, company policies, and other federal/state regulations.
- Appraise employee performance and recommend wage advancements based on skill level.
- Maintain departmental adherence to company policies and issue corrective actions as needed.
- Attend and actively participate in daily production meetings to resolve problems, increase productivity, and improve quality.
- Schedule and lead daily, weekly, and monthly staff meetings as outlined in the lean manufacturing system.
- Advocate for safety within the facility, follow all safety procedures, and work with the safety team to develop and maintain safety programs.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety policies, SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices, FSMA, and associated Preventive Controls.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or two-year degree with equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2+ years as a front-line supervisor or five years of experience in all phases of plant and equipment maintenance.
Skills
- High degree of accuracy and experience with electrical systems, ammonia refrigeration, high-pressure boilers, pneumatics, blueprints, and packaging equipment.
- Knowledge of GMPs, sanitation, and union relations is helpful.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Technical understanding of manufacturing equipment and maintenance.

Pay
Base salary range: $87,159.00 – $111,651.75 per year. Annual bonus based on the incentive program terms and conditions.
Schedule
- Typical shifts are 8–12 hours per day.
- Additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may be required.
Physical Demands
- Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
- Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.
- Willingness and ability to wear personal protective equipment as required.
- Exposure to vibrations, chemicals, fumes, food allergens (e.g., soy, dairy), confined/dark spaces, and heights in excess of 18 feet.
- Work outside and/or in adverse temperatures, including extreme heat, cold, and humidity.
