Supervisor Maintenance - Assembly
About the role
This fully onsite role is responsible for leading and coordinating maintenance activities within an automotive manufacturing facility to ensure equipment reliability, maximize uptime, and support production goals. This role oversees maintenance technicians, implements preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Leads and coordinates maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and uptime
- Oversees maintenance technicians and implements preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Ensures compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
- Manages shift-based teams and prioritizes maintenance work in real time
- Motivates and holds teams accountable; strong people leader
- Promotes a safety-first culture and leads by example on the floor
- Balances reactive maintenance (breakdowns) with proactive planning
- Improves downtime, uptime, MTTR / MTBF, and PM completion rates
- Leads incident investigations and implements preventative measures
Requirements
- Combination of 4 years of relevant work experience and/or education in a manufacturing or engineering field
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; automotive industry preferred
- 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience
- Expertise in CMMS systems (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, EAM)
Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on maintenance experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably in an automotive OEM or Tier 1 setting
- Demonstrated experience supervising or leading skilled trades teams
- Strong technical background in highly automated systems—including robotics, conveyors, stamping, welding, and assembly operations
- Comfortable working in lean, fast-paced production environments with demanding uptime and reliability expectations
Skills
- Advanced troubleshooting skills across: PLCs (Siemens), Robotics (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA), Electrical systems (controls, drives, sensors), Mechanical systems (gearboxes, bearings, conveyors), Hydraulics and pneumatics
- Deep understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
- Uses CMMS systems and analyzes maintenance data to drive decisions
- Reads and interprets schematics, blueprints, and ladder logic
