About the Role
We seek a Supervisor, Laboratory Processing for our Pathology department. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of specimen receipt and processing activities, providing leadership, maintaining operational budgets, implementing departmental policies, and achieving departmental goals and metrics. The Supervisor ensures the CP/AP Processing department delivers quality services, maintains specimen integrity, and resolves all related questions, concerns, or complaints. This position also oversees staff hiring, training, competency evaluations, and ensures the department meets its annual goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Supports and directs the daily operation of the assigned laboratory area, guiding staff to meet customer needs consistent with Cottage Health expectations.
- Manages staff scheduling, supply management, Kronos editing, QC oversight, training, competency assessments, and staff evaluations.
- Ensures the CP/AP Processing department maintains the highest specimen integrity and resolves service-related issues.
- Oversees the achievement of departmental goals and metrics as established by PDL management.
Requirements
- Minimum: Associate’s Degree in a science-related field or equivalent work experience (2 years of experience equals 1 year of college).
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in a field of science.
- Minimum: 4 years of experience in phlebotomy, laboratory, anatomic pathology, or other healthcare environments.
- Preferred: 4 years of experience in the above fields, including 2 or more years of supervisory experience.
- Proficiency in performing administrative functions using MS Office and other operational software applications.
Qualifications
- Preferred certifications: Valid CPT, HT, or HTL.
Pay
Pay for non-physician positions is determined based on related years of experience and internal equity. Eligible employees may receive additional compensation, including shift differentials, on-call pay, incentive pay, and bonus opportunities where applicable. Manager and above positions may participate in Cottage Health’s annual management incentive program.
