Location: Oak Park, Illinois – Rush Oak Park Hospital, Laboratory Department

Supervises the technical operations of the laboratory, including resource and personnel management. Performs complex laboratory testing and serves as technical specialist. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Supervises high-complexity testing, QC procedures, proficiency surveys, and instrument checks.
• Performs complex laboratory testing with no assistance.
• Ensures that equipment is maintained and operated safely and accurately.
• Manages workflow, recognizes quality-control values, responds to outliers, acts as a technical resource, identifies instrument/assay problems, and maintains technical proficiency.
• Maintains and updates Policy and Procedure Manuals as needed.
• Directs or performs inventory of supplies and ensures timely preparation of purchase requisitions.
• Enforces compliance with all policies, standard operating procedures, and regulations related to routine operations.
• Directs training of new employees to meet performance expectations.
• Appraises employee competency and performance; conducts performance reviews.
• Reviews computer-generated reports at appropriate times.
• Accepts and completes special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology/Sciences
• 5 years of relevant experience in a hospital laboratory
• Able to work in a fast-paced, often stressful, computerized environment
• Able to lift 15 lbs. and perform repetitive motions
• Works in a laboratory with exposure to potentially infectious materials

Preferred Qualifications

• MT(ASCP) or MLS(ASCP) certificate

Skills

• Knowledge of Medical Laboratory Sciences to competently supervise testing in a laboratory area

Pay

$38.02 – $55.18 per hour. Rush salaries are determined by factors including education, job-related experience, skills, and internal equity and industry-specific market data. Offers may vary depending on individual circumstances.

Schedule

• Full Time (0.9 – 1.0 FTE)
• Shift 4: 8-hour shift, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
