About the role
The Recycler Education and Examination (RE&E) Unit at CalRecycle is seeking a Supervisor I (Supervisor) to lead the development and implementation of regulations, policies, and procedures related to mandatory precertification training and examinations for recycling center and processor participants in the Beverage Container Recycling Program (BCRP).
Responsibilities
- Work cohesively with a team to develop and implement regulations, policies, and procedures related to mandatory precertification training and examinations for recycling center and processor participants in the Beverage Container Recycling Program (BCRP).
- Analyze a wide range of program-related issues to develop program alternatives, policies, and procedures.
- Leverage skills to independently perform a full range of more responsible, varied, and complex work of the RE&E Unit.
- Ensure staff assess readiness of potential recycling centers and processors for success in the BCRP.
- Travel may be required up to 25% per year, including day trips, trips of 2-5 days in duration, which involve overnight stays, and occasional weekend assignments that will require an adjustment to the employee's work schedule.
Requirements
- Bilingual-Spanish preferred but not required.
- Strong communicator with tact and professionalism.
- Independent work ability to perform a full range of more responsible, varied, and complex work of the RE&E Unit.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and one year of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills
- Familiarity with Database software like Oracle, Access, or similar programs.
- Possess a passion for training others.

Pay
- $7,172.00 - $8,910.00
Schedule
- Office-centered, requiring employees to report to the office at least four days per week beginning July 1, 2026.
