Job Description and Duties
Duties performed:
- Clearly communicate roles, responsibilities, standards, procedures, policies, and guidelines for conduct and performance of tasks.
- Maintain, support, and incorporate effective personnel management practices in all aspects of managing and supervising staff including, coaching, mentoring, performance evaluation, hiring, and training.
- Carry out regular meetings with staff to communicate goals, expectations, and upward mobility opportunities.
- Provide regular feedback to staff, including timely preparation of performance evaluations and employee recognition.
- Develop and monitor production and staffing plans to ensure the timely and accurate completion of assigned work.
- Ensure adequate training is provided for staff.
- Monitor production to ensure claims are timely evaluated and an accurate ownership determination is made within statutory requirements.
- Maintain consistent and accurate documentation of unit workload, performance, and training.
- Aid staff with the most complex and sensitive claims, ensuring adherence to all fraud prevention policies and procedures.
- Review staff work product for accuracy.
- Manage workloads by ensuring systems are in place to maintain accurate inventory and aging data.
- Identify workload trends using metrics and variances, creating forecasting reports that proactively redirect resources and/or determine other appropriate actions to take to avoid backlogs.
- Evaluate current program operations, initiate and oversee projects to improve the processes within the group, monitor activities to ensure conformity with goals and policies.
- Maintain daily management information reports, ensuring responses to inquiries are accurate and consistent, that they protect the integrity of information released to the public, and that the quality of service provided is courteous and professional.
- Act as a member of the Unclaimed Property Division (UPD) management team in developing solutions to issues and business plans.
- Provide management backup assistance within UPD as needed to ensure adequate supervision of staff and timely approval and payment of claims.
Working Conditions
Required Work Hours: Monday - Friday. 8:00AM to 5:00PM
This position is located in Rancho Cordova on White Rock Road, between Mather Field Road and Zinfandel Drive just off US 50 offering free parking is situated in the family-friendly suburbs of Sacramento. There is an abundance of nearby shopping centers and dining options with public transportation accessible nearby via Sacramento Regional Transit’s bus and light rail systems.

- Knowledge of principles and trends of public administration, including management and staff services’ practices, such as collective bargaining, personnel services, planning, program evaluation, and other related areas.
- Ability and desire to invest in staff, provide feedback and guidance for development, and monitor challenges and successes.
- Ability to effectively communicate, foster relationships, and facilitate meetings with staff at all levels.
- Ability to create a collaborative and productive team environment, while remaining engaged in a virtual work environment.
- Ability to handle stressful and/or sensitive situations with tact and a positive attitude.
- Excellent communication, organization, and business writing skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt, organize and prioritize multiple tasks/changing priorities, and coordinate concurrent assignments efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Ability to ask effective questions, evaluate information, and make decisions in a competent and timely manner.
- Demonstrate a high degree of initiative, and strong leadership skills.
- Excellent attendance and dependability.
- Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
