About the Role

The Hotel Housekeeping Floor Supervisor supervises, trains, and inspects the performance of assigned Room Attendants, Turndown Attendants, House persons, and Laundry Attendants, ensuring all procedures meet the hotel's standards. This role assists where necessary to deliver optimum service to guests. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with a passion for luxury hospitality and an eye for detail, contributing to unforgettable guest experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Support team members in meeting their responsibilities and becoming part of the team.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment only as intended.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, regardless of busyness or time of day.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times; resolve guest complaints to ensure satisfaction.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Verify room status on A.M. report; report and prioritize discrepant rooms; update status of check-out rooms.
  • Ensure assigned staff has reported to work; document late or absent employees.
  • Coordinate breaks for assigned staff; prepare and distribute assignment sheets, reviewing priorities.
  • Communicate additions or changes to assignment sheets throughout the shift.
  • Inspect supply levels of floor closets; assign personnel to rectify deficiencies.
  • Check Room Attendants' carts for proper supplies, neatness, cleanliness, and mechanical issues.
  • Inspect rooms cleaned by assigned Room Attendants using a designated checklist; relay deficiencies for correction.
  • Update room status after approving cleanliness and condition per departmental standards.
  • Check vacant and DND rooms; verify and update status throughout the shift.
  • “Mark” dirty sheets in randomly selected rooms and follow up to ensure sheets are changed; counsel Room Attendants on discrepancies.
  • Report maintenance issues to dispatcher.
  • Conduct training of staff as assigned; provide feedback on staff performance to the manager.
  • Report disciplinary problems to the manager and participate in employee counseling.
  • Complete all paperwork and closing duties; review status of assignments and follow-up actions with the manager or oncoming supervisor.
  • Check P.M. reports for accuracy and completeness; complete night counts per departmental standards.
  • Assist in other Housekeeping areas as assigned; attend designated meetings.
  • Make up cribs and rollaway beds; stock Housekeeping supplies; open the house and assign boards to Room Attendants and Housemen.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate required.
  • Previous guest relations training and experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in Housekeeping at a 4-star property.
  • Minimum 2 years of prior experience cleaning hotel guest rooms.
  • Ability to input and access information in property management systems/computers.
  • Proficiency in using company-issued communication devices (e.g., cell phones).
  • Strong command of English to understand and respond to advanced guest requests, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of additional languages preferred.
  • Guest-service oriented with excellent hospitality skills.
  • Strong people skills with the ability to problem-solve through active listening and responsiveness to team members' needs.
  • Ability to lift or carry 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Capability to physically maneuver and access all property areas, including drive areas, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to interact effectively with guests, management, team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability to walk, stand, stretch, bend, and kneel for prolonged periods.
  • Capability to work from a standing position and walking motion for extended periods.
  • Repeated reaching, stooping, stretching, crouching, and twisting motions required for guest rooms, hallways, service areas, and public areas.
  • Work under variable temperature conditions (extreme heat or cold), noise levels, and environments (indoors/outdoors).
  • Exposure to fumes, odors, dust, mites, bio-hazards, and manual tasks requiring motor coordination and finger dexterity (e.g., typing, handwriting).
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, ability to work varying schedules reflecting business needs.
  • Responsible for operating within hotel safety guidelines, including safe equipment operation and proper handling of chemicals with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report and address safety concerns as they arise.
