Houseperson, Hotel Housekeeping (Caesars New Orleans)
About the role
As a Hotel Houseperson in Housekeeping, you will provide friendly, exceptional service to every guest every time. You will maintain assigned areas, service areas, and linen closets, complete special projects, and support Guest Room Attendants by removing soiled linen, trash, and providing supplies.
Responsibilities
- Consistently offer professional, friendly, and engaging service to guests, acknowledging all guests regardless of how busy or what time of day.
- Anticipate guests' needs and requests promptly.
- Be familiar with all hotel services, features, and attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
- Ensure security of assigned keys and radios.
- Review assignment sheet and update completed assignments.
- Check with supervisor and housekeeping office for additional assignments throughout the shift.
- Ensure linen closets are stocked on each assigned floor and provide linen and supplies to Guest Room Attendants.
- Clean and maintain assigned guest hallways and stairwells.
- Complete general removal of trash and debris from assigned areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of closets, remove trash, sweep, mop, and place non-closet items in proper storage.
- Ensure hallways are vacuumed and stairwells are free of trash; nothing should be stored in stairwells.
- Dust frames, mirrors, fire extinguisher boxes, exit signs, and air vents in assigned areas.
- Clean ice machine rooms, all lamps, light fixtures, and light switches; check for proper working conditions.
- Remove dust, fingerprints, and marks from doors and frames.
- Remove stains, scuff marks, and dust from baseboards, ledges, and corners.
- Polish all brass surfaces.
- Clean balcony windows.
- Report any damages or maintenance problems to supervisor.
- Assist Room Attendants to ensure guest rooms are prepared efficiently.
- Respond timely to guests’ special requests for miscellaneous items such as cribs, rollaways, and extra towels.
- Turn in any lost and found items to Loss Prevention.
- Pick up linens and garbage from housekeeping carts throughout the day.
- Ensure storage areas are stocked properly and transport and supply linens.
- Inspect all linen for quality, checking for stains, wrinkles, and overall fabric condition/appearance.
- Remain alert, courteous, and helpful to guests and fellow team members at all times.
- Report all repairs needed in assigned work areas.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior Housekeeping experience within a luxury four-star hotel brand preferred.
- Knowledge of the proper usage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Ability to learn, utilize, and communicate effectively via company-issued communication devices (Radio).
- Must be able to work well with co-workers and function as part of a team.
- Must present a well-groomed appearance.
- Ability to comprehend and speak English to understand and respond to information and address advanced guest requests, both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of additional language(s) preferred.
- Must be guest service-oriented and have excellent hospitality skills.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Additional Requirements
- Significant portions of the day require prolonged standing and moving around.
- Ability to visually review documents.
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift.
- Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
- Occasional ascending or descending stairs and ramps.
- Significant portions of daily assignments involve application of manual skills requiring motor coordination in combination with finger dexterity, e.g., typing, handwriting, or machine operations.
- Must be able to use elevators frequently and work in a high-rise hotel.
- Must be able to push and pull 150-pound carts.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Position requires 10% sitting, 30% standing, 60% walking.
- Able to stand, stoop, bend, and crouch to clean low and high areas of the hotel such as floors, baseboards, bathtubs, drains, toilets, shower walls, pictures, mirrors, and shower rods.
- Able to fold linen, bed sheets, blankets, bedspreads, and pillowcases.
