About the role

The position is responsible for providing leadership, vision, and a working environment that promotes teamwork and customer satisfaction and for ensuring that the standards of service are met for the Facilities Engineering team in a manner consistent with SMC's mission and values.

The Supervisor plans work, schedules staff and vendors, supervises work order execution, coordinates system disruptions, tracks work status, monitors and verifies the function of building environmental and life safety systems.

The Supervisor provides advice and recommendations on the design, construction, and operation of physical plant systems and is responsible for the effective operation of those systems based upon a high degree of technical knowledge and experience.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include assisting in managing the Facilities Engineering budget, implementing the Utility Management Plan, assisting in the development of the annual labor, operating and capital budgets and managing the Facilities Engineering staff to ensure the consistent, safe, and reliable operation of all utility systems, equipment and properties.

Individual responsibilities in the areas such as plant operations, building finishes and envelope, and work order management may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have completed a broad range of formal, specialized training courses pertaining to building maintenance and plant operations.
  • National Boiler Operator Grade I License - State County City Trade License Authority or National Boiler Operator Grade II License - State County City Trade License Authority or National Boiler Operator Grade III License - State County City Trade License Authority upon hire.
  • 10 or more years building maintenance and plant operations experience.
  • Extensive experience in the maintenance of building envelopes, finishes and equipment.
  • Experience with most utility and life safety systems including fan systems, chillers and chilled water distribution, cooling towers, emergency generators, electrical distribution, steam generation and distribution, heating water, plumbing, medical gases, and fire detection and suppression systems.
  • Experience in the development, implementation and monitoring of computer based preventive maintenance programs.
  • Experience with all hospital utility systems.
  • Experience in a computer-based maintenance software system.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or equivalent education/experience.

Pay

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.

Pay Range: $39.45 - $61.24
